Oklahoma County Clerk is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to serve as the primary accounting authority within the Clerk’s Office, reporting directly to the CFO. This senior leadership position oversees all financial operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the integrity of the County’s financial systems. The Controller directs accounting functions—including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, grants, and capital assets—prepares the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), leads external audits, manages internal controls, and serves as the County’s tax compliance expert. The role develops and enforces financial policies aligned with GAAP, GASB, and Oklahoma statutes, guides budgeting and forecasting, monitors cash flow and investments, and presents financial updates to the Board of County Commissioners and Budget Board. The Controller also supervises and mentors the finance team, fostering accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Candidates must have at least five years of progressive governmental accounting or financial management experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA strongly preferred), and proficiency with ERP systems such as Tyler Munis. A master’s degree or certification (CPA/CGFM) is preferred.
